What happens when rejection, disappointment, and unexpected circumstances threaten the future you hoped to build?
Follow fictional characters in contemporary Liberia as they confront life's difficult questions and discover how faith can shape their decisions.
Coming Soon on AmazonLife does not always unfold as we expect. Rejection, betrayal, uncertainty, and broken expectations can leave us questioning our value, our choices, and even our faith.
Set in contemporary Liberia, When Life Doesn't Go as Planned follows Martha, Samuel, Daniel, Peter, and other imagined characters as they face circumstances that challenge their relationships, expectations, and understanding of God's purpose.
Their experiences reflect struggles many people encounter in everyday life. They are not accounts of any particular family or individuals.
The familiar biblical account of Joseph in Genesis 37–50 provides a foundation for reflection. Biblical scenes are retold in ordinary language and distinguished from the contemporary fictional storyline.
Rather than promising that every hardship will end in material prosperity, this book invites readers to consider God's faithfulness, the grace of Jesus Christ, and the character that faith can develop within us.
How do rejection and broken expectations affect our sense of worth and the decisions we make?
Can we continue trusting God and acting wisely even when our future seems uncertain?
How can mercy, responsibility, and forgiveness influence the way we respond to pain?
Genesis 37–50
Joseph's biblical experiences include rejection, betrayal, injustice, responsibility, and forgiveness.
These familiar events provide opportunities for reflection as readers follow the fictional characters living in contemporary Liberia.
Joseph is not the main fictional character of this novel. His biblical account serves as a separate source of spiritual insight.
Key Scripture:
"The LORD was with Joseph."
— Genesis 39:2
Scripture references throughout the book allow readers to return to the biblical text for themselves.
Martha, Samuel, Daniel, Peter, and the other characters encounter questions many people struggle to answer.
What should we do when people disappoint us? How do we respond when our efforts seem unsuccessful? Can faith influence our choices even when we cannot understand what is happening?
Through the fictional storyline and its distinct biblical reflections, readers are invited to explore these questions for themselves.
This is an introduction to the novel, not a passage from its manuscript. A selected excerpt from the actual opening chapter will be placed here before the final book launch.
